The Terrible Towel Part Deux

Many at last night’s game did not see the controversial behavior that caused Mark Grace to lose the inaugural Legends Race.  It was not until they showed a replay on dbTV that the fans could see what really happened.  When they showed Manny Ramirez throwing the towel at Mark Grace the Chase Field crowd rained boos at the injured Dodgers outfield.

The fans were clearly behind Grace rooting for him to overcome the disappointment from the previous night’s race.  When the fifth inning was completed it was time for the second Legends race in Chase Field history.

The Legends exited the Dodgers bullpen and Grace went out to a big lead.  It looked as though he was on a mission too not only win the race but to demolish the competition.  Then inexplicably he stopped at the Dodgers dugout and called out Manny Ramirez.

Grace had in his hand the infamous towel from the night before and he wanted to settle the score with Manny.  Manny though must have sensed something was up as he was not in the Dodgers bullpen instead going back into the clubhouse during the race.

Grace should have let it go and continued the race.  Instead, his preoccupation with revenge caused him to lose focus.  The remaining three Legends blew past him for victory leaving Grace in last place, a second loss in a row.

There is a moral to this story kids, let bygones be bygones and focus on the task at hand.  Failure to do so will leave you standing on the field with nothing but an empty towel.
