Boxed Like a Chocolate

Prior to the game the Diamondbacks Legends walked the race course in what has become a pre-game ritual. Each of the Legends was checking out footing and traction making sure they had the proper footing for tonight’s big race.

After checking out the field conditions the Legends walked over to Section 132 where they would make their way up the stairs to the main concourse to meet their adoring fans. Normally I don’t pay too much attention to this but for whatever reason I was watching tonight.

As the Legends got to the gate at the bottom of Section 132 a security guard opened the gate to allow them to leave the playing surface. The Mark Grace Legend went to step up when all of a sudden he was cut off by Matt Williams!

The move by Williams seemed to startle Grace who had to immediately stop so as not to hit the back of Williams. Always the gentleman, Grace continued to smile with his huge polyester teeth content in allowing Williams to step in front of him.

As the fifth inning came to an end the Legends emerged from the Mets bullpen and began racing. Grace took the inside path and began to make his way to the front. In a split second Williams did a side step blocking Grace.

Grace immediately stepped the other direction to make his move only to see Luis Gonzalez step in front blocking him. Grace slowed down a step to get around when Randy Johnson stepped to his right basically blocking Grace eliminating him from contention and handing him his 12th consecutive loss. Obviously Grace is going to need to work on his race strategy if he hopes to contend.

About Jeff Summers

Just a guy from Section 132 Row 9 Seat 9 trying to understand the metaphysics of baseball and whether the knuckleball defies Newton's first law of motion.

  1. Paula Vaughnn says:

It must be a setup, or maybe I just imagine there is a conspiracy???? But it reminds me of being an Angels fan (1972 till the strike) or a current Dbacks fan….. Always rooting for the much love underdog. Come on Grace, I would help you if I could!

  2. Who knows?
Maybe they just like makin Grace mad?
But Its funny to see him on the screen making mad faces and holding up signs and acting silly!
I wonder what he will do when he wins?
